ILM Level 3 VRQ in Management of Volunteers

This qualification has been developed to equip first line managers working within the third sector with the professional skills and knowledge they need to successfully manage their team of volunteers. 
 
It will enable you to understand how to promote volunteering within your organisation, and how to set objectives and develop suitable activity plans for each team member to achieve organisational goals. 
 
You will also cover key areas such as supporting diversity and equality, managing conflict and boosting your personal leadership skills, as well as essentials such as health and safety, quality issues and relevant legislation.

Structure
 
One mandatory unit (6 credits) with the remainder of credits to be built from operational units.
 
Two mandatory unit (8 credits) with the remainder of credits to be built from operational units.
 
Entry Requirements
 
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.  it is designed for people looking after volunteers on a day to day basis who would like to grow their professional management skills and build on their experience of working with volunteers.  Learners enrolled on this level 3 programme must have sufficient capability at the right level to undertake the learning and assessment.  More specifically they should:
  • Have experience of working with volunteers in either a paid or unpaid capacity
  • Understand management concepts relevant to the qualification.
  • Be able to investigate theories and current thinking about the management of volunteers and link theory to practice.
  • Be able to communicate clearly in written English.
  • Be able to give up to date workplace examples of volunteer management from either paid or unpaid work.
NB It is possible to do this qualification when not in employment but candidates must have had some recent experience of the management of volunteers.
