Our Level 5 Management and Leadership qualifications are ideal to helping develop people for senior management roles.

 
 
Who it's for
 
The Level 5 qualifications in Management and Leadership have been designed for middle managers and those aspiring to senior management positions who want to develop skills such as managing resources, recruitment and information management.
 
 
Level of study
 
The Level 5 Management and Leadership qualifications are available to study at Award, Certificate and Diploma and Extended Diploma levels.
 
Award: Our Level 5 Award strengthens and develops knowledge of middle management by focusing on specific management areas that are applicable to the person's job. The Award takes approximately 1 to 3 months to complete.
 
Certificate: A more extensive qualification, the Level 5 Certificate gives a broader knowledge of middle management skills while focusing on the specific leadership areas appropriate to the workplace. The Certificate takes approximately 3 to 6 months to complete.
 
Diploma: With a more comprehensive structure, our Level 5 Diploma provides the key skills and competencies needed to become an effective middle manager. The Diploma takes approximately 6 to 12 months to complete.
 
Extended Diploma: The Level 5 Extended Diploma in Management and Leadership is the benchmark qualification for the full CMI membership, taking learners another step towards Chartered Manager status.
 
Learning outcomes
 
Depending on the selected modules, learners may learn:

  • Meeting stakeholder and quality needs
 
Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however learners should:
  • Have experience of working as a middle manager in either a paid or unpaid capacity or have had experience of first line management and are aspiring to higher level management
  • Understand management and leadership concepts relevant to the qualification
  • Be able to investigate theories and current management thinking and link theory to practice
  • Be able to communicate clearly in standard written English
  • Be able to give up to date workplace examples at first line management level from either paid or unpaid work
